Binance restricted countries (updated 2026-10-20)

Published · updated

Binance restricted countries: short answer

Binance publishes a List of Prohibited Countries as a PDF headed “Updated: 5 January 2026” (official PDF). It names the United States (including citizens), Canada and the Netherlands, plus sanctioned jurisdictions. Our editor read the PDF on 20 October 2026. The shift environment could not open it again, so the wording below is quoted as read and we have not shifted any date.

The official list, verbatim

The PDF opens with: “To be eligible to register for a Binance Account and use the Binance Services, you must not be:” and then lists three categories.

  • (i) “Located, incorporated, otherwise established in, resident of, a citizen of, or operating in: United States”.
  • (ii) “Located, incorporated, otherwise established in, or resident of: Canada, Netherlands”.
  • (iii) The same wording for “Cuba”, “North Korea”, “Iran”, “Crimea (as defined in US Executive Order 13685)”, “The so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (as defined in US Executive Order 14065)” and “The so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (as defined in US Executive Order 14065)”.

The PDF says: “The below Countries, and such other locations, as designated by Binance from time to time, form the List of Prohibited Countries as described in Binance’s Terms of Use.” It adds that Binance reserves the right to update the list at its discretion without prior notice.

The United States differs from the others: category (i) also covers citizens of the United States, wherever they are, while the other categories cover location, incorporation and residence.

How to read the three categories

The three categories are not interchangeable. Category (i), the United States, is the only one that reaches citizens: a US citizen living abroad is still named, and so is a company operating in the United States. Category (ii), Canada and the Netherlands, is about where you are located, where a company is incorporated or established, and where you live. Category (iii) uses the same location wording for the sanctioned jurisdictions and points to US Executive Orders 13685 and 14065 for the definitions of Crimea and of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

Why a date and a version matter

The PDF carries one date, “Updated: 5 January 2026”. We read it on 20 October 2026. If Binance publishes a newer file, the date and the list change, and so must this page. When two readings differ, we follow the stricter list. We do not infer a change from news or forum posts, and we do not move the check date unless we have checked the source again.

What this page does not say

It does not say that a country missing from the list is open for new accounts, that Binance holds a licence in any country, or that any bonus applies. It also does not compare Binance with other exchanges.

Binance in the EU and EEA

The EEA countries other than the Netherlands are not on the list, but that does not mean Binance serves them. Our canonical regulatory record marks Binance as restricted for EU users: Binance notified EU users on 2026-06-16 that services would stop, and the record shows no EU service since 2026-07-01 (evidence tier B: Binance notice and independent reporting, last checked 2026-10-08). Binance has no confirmed MiCA authorisation in the canonical registry (status EU_RESTRICTED). The supporting check: a search for “binance” across all fields of the ESMA interim register file returned 0 matches on 8 October 2026 (see the ESMA file). The register is not an official statement by Binance, so we say only what we found. Under our EEA rule we do not show Binance to visitors in the EEA.

The UK and other countries not on the list

The United Kingdom is not on the List of Prohibited Countries (updated 5 January 2026). That list does not say whether new UK users are accepted. Our own older research flags new UK sign-ups as closed, but that check is more than 90 days old and is being rechecked, so we do not rely on it here. We do not call Binance available to new UK users. The same applies to any country that is not named: a missing name is not a guarantee.

Regional Binance platforms are separate

This page makes no claims about Binance.US or Binance Kazakhstan.

Product-level limits are separate

Product availability differs by country. Check Binance’s own pages for futures and other derivatives before you rely on this list.

Where our Binance code applies

We show no sign-up button on this page. Our Binance referral page shows the code and says where its button is hidden. See also how we verify.

If Binance is not available where you live

Follow the restriction. We do not describe VPNs, a different country in KYC, or other ways around it. If you think your account was restricted by mistake, contact Binance support.

What we have not verified

  • We have not re-read the PDF ourselves: the shift environment is blocked from the Binance file host, so the quotes come from our editor’s reading on 20 October 2026.
  • We have not rechecked whether Binance accepts new UK users; our last check is older than 90 days.
  • We have not verified Binance.US supported states, or any futures and derivatives limits.
  • We state no reward amount and no fee, because none of those facts is the subject of this page.

Can US citizens use Binance?

Not on Binance.com. The first category covers anyone located in, resident of or a citizen of the United States. This page states no facts about Binance.US or other regional platforms.

That list does not say whether new UK users are accepted, and our own older research flags new UK sign-ups as closed; that check is more than 90 days old and is being rechecked, so we state no UK answer. We do not call Binance available to new UK users.

Is Binance available in Europe?

A search for "binance" in the ESMA interim register file returned 0 matches on 8 October 2026. Under our EEA rule we do not show Binance to visitors in the EEA.

How do I unrestrict my Binance account?

Contact Binance support. We do not describe ways around country restrictions.
