What the Securities Commission ordered in 2021

On 30 July 2021 the SC publicly reprimanded Binance Holdings Limited and its CEO Zhao Changpeng. It said Binance continued to operate illegally in Malaysia despite being included in the SC’s Investor Alert List, and ordered it to “disable the Binance website (www.binance.com) and mobile applications in Malaysia within 14 business days”. The SC strongly urged investors to immediately cease trading through Binance’s platforms and to withdraw all their investments immediately.

What Binance itself changed for Malaysian users

In an announcement published on 13 August 2021, Binance said it would end MYR trading pairs, MYR payment options and P2P merchant applications from 16 August 2021 04:00 UTC. By our check on 20 October 2026 we did not find an official Binance page on MYR P2P today, so we make no statement about the current state.

Is Malaysia on Binance’s prohibited list?

No. Malaysia is not named in Binance’s List of Prohibited Countries, “Updated - 5 January 2026”. That does not mean Binance is registered in Malaysia: the prohibited list and the SC register answer different questions. We did not find a source for Binance’s current status in the SC Investor Alert List, so we do not state it.

Binance can update its list at any time, and the update date we quote is the one we read on 20 October 2026. Check the current list on Binance before you act. This page describes what the sources say; it is not legal or financial advice.

Who is registered in Malaysia

The SC list of registered digital asset exchanges, “as of 20 July 2026”, names HATA Digital Sdn Bhd, Luno Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., MX Global Sdn Bhd, SINEGY DAX Sdn Bhd and Kinetic DAX Sdn Bhd. Binance is not on it. We copy the official list without ratings and without links to those exchanges.

Why there is no sign-up button here

We show a sign-up link only where our evidence covers the country and the exchange is available there. For Malaysia we have no such evidence for Binance, so there is no button and no code. Do not use a false country or someone else’s identity to get around a check or restriction.

For where we show the Binance code, see Binance referral code. For how we check facts, see How we verify and the editorial policy.
