Does Binance work in Uganda? Binance lists, Uganda's stance
No sign-up button for Uganda: we show one only where we have verified the Binance referral offer for that country.
Short answer
Uganda is not named in Binance’s List of Prohibited Countries (updated 5 January 2026), and the Binance App list (updated 18 August 2026) marks Uganda as “Available”. Separately, an undated statement on the Ministry of Finance website says “The government of Uganda does not recognize any crypto-currency as legal tender in Uganda.” We found no licence for Binance in Uganda, so there is no sign-up button on this page. Not being named on a Binance list is not the same as being authorised under Ugandan law. Checked 21 October 2026.

Is Uganda on Binance’s prohibited list?
No. The List of Prohibited Countries, “Updated: 5 January 2026”, names the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Crimea and the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Uganda is not named. The Binance App list, “updated on August 18, 2026”, shows Uganda as “Available”. These are Binance’s own availability lists. They say nothing about whether Binance holds a licence in Uganda.
What the Government of Uganda says about crypto
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development publishes a “PUBLIC STATEMENT ON CRYPTO-CURRENCIES”. It says: “The government of Uganda does not recognize any crypto-currency as legal tender in Uganda.” It also urges people to “exercise caution before they make transactions involving such products.” The document carries no date, so we cannot say when it was issued; we write only that we checked it on 21 October 2026. We make no legal ruling and do not say crypto is legal or illegal in Uganda.
What happened to Binance Uganda
A Binance press release from Kampala dated 15 October 2018 announced “our first fiat-crypto exchange in Uganda”, with UGX deposits and withdrawals from 17 October 2018. On 21 October 2026 we could not open an official Binance announcement about the later closure of Binance Uganda, so we give no closure date or reason. We do not rely on news reports for this.
UGX on Binance today: what official pages show
We have not verified which UGX routes Binance offers today. We did not confirm any UGX listing on Binance P2P, and a 2022 Binance blog post on UGX is not a current method. Check the terms Binance shows for your account. We give no step-by-step instructions.
Why there is no sign-up button here
We show a sign-up link only where our evidence covers the country and a licence is confirmed. We have no verified licence for Binance in Uganda and the Government’s statement does not recognize crypto-currency as legal tender, so there is no button and no code on this page. We do not describe ways around restrictions.
