What the Securities Commission ordered in December 2024

The SC reprimanded Bybit Technology Limited (formerly Bybit Fintech Limited) and CEO Ben Zhou (Yuchen Zhou). It said that operating a digital asset exchange in Malaysia without registration as a Recognized Market Operator is an offence under Section 7(1) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. Bybit had been on the SC Investor Alert List since July 2021. The SC ordered Bybit to disable Bybit’s website and mobile applications in Malaysia within 14 business days from 11 December 2024, to stop advertising and to close its Telegram group. The release says: “Bybit has complied with all of the SC’s directive”.

Is Malaysia on Bybit’s restricted list?

Malaysia is not named in the Bybit list “Service Restricted Countries” (last updated 16 October 2026). That is not the same as being registered in Malaysia: the SC decides registration, and Bybit is not on its list. Bybit EU also lists Malaysia among the nationalities it is not available to.

Who is registered in Malaysia

The SC list updated 20 July 2026 names HATA Digital Sdn Bhd, Luno Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., MX Global Sdn Bhd, SINEGY DAX Sdn Bhd and Kinetic DAX Sdn Bhd. We list them as the SC does, without ranking or recommendation.

What we could not confirm

We found no official SC statement of a change in status after the release of 27 December 2024, so we do not say Bybit is on or off that list. We found no official page for a Bybit Card in Malaysia and do not write about one.

What this page does and does not say

This page repeats what the SC release, the SC register and the Bybit lists state, with their dates. It does not say whether using Bybit from Malaysia is legal for you personally, and it does not rank exchanges. If a source changes, we update the fact and its date.

Why we show no Bybit button in Malaysia

The SC says Bybit operated without registration and ordered it to stop, and Bybit is not on the SC register. So this page links to no Bybit sign-up and shows no code. We do not advise using a VPN, another country or another nationality in a sign-up form.
