Does Bybit work in Ethiopia? Lists and NBE notice (Oct 2026)
No sign-up button for Ethiopia: we show one only where we have verified the Bybit referral offer for that country.
Does Bybit work in Ethiopia? Short answer
Facts read on 24 October 2026. Ethiopia is not named in Bybit’s restricted-countries list, but two things limit the answer: Bybit closes some fiat channels for Ethiopia, and the central bank does not permit Birr-paired P2P. This page has no sign-up button and no code. We make no legal ruling; we quote Bybit and the regulator.
| Fact | Source | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Ethiopia not named in Service Restricted Countries | Bybit | Updated 16 Oct 2026 |
| Ethiopia in the SEPA (EUR), SWIFT (PLN) and SWIFT (USD) restricted rows; not in General fiat service | Bybit | Updated 3 Oct 2026 |
| Birr-paired P2P on trading platforms “not permitted” without NBE authorisation | National Bank of Ethiopia | 27 Feb 2026 |
Is Ethiopia on Bybit’s restricted list?
No. Ethiopia is not named in Bybit’s Service Restricted Countries article (“Last updated on 2026-10-16”). That article answers a different question from the fiat list below, and it does not mean every Bybit service is available in Ethiopia.
Which Bybit fiat services are restricted for Ethiopia
Bybit’s List of Restricted Issuing Countries for Fiat Service (“Last updated on 2026-10-03”) names Ethiopia in three rows: SEPA (EUR currency), SWIFT (PLN currency) and SWIFT (USD currency). Ethiopia does not appear in the “General fiat service” row. We do not conclude from this that fiat is closed completely; we only copy the rows.
What the National Bank of Ethiopia said (27 February 2026)
In a public notice dated 27 February 2026 in Addis Ababa, the National Bank of Ethiopia stated that “the use of Birr paired P2P arrangements on trading platforms, exchanges, or similar services and products is not permitted unless explicitly authorized by the National Bank of Ethiopia.” It added that “Any form of Birr denominated P2P trading or exchange involving cryptocurrencies is also prohibited.” The notice does not name Bybit or any other platform. We opened the notice on nbe.gov.et on 24 October 2026 and the quoted text matches.
Why there is no sign-up button here
We show a sign-up link only where our evidence covers the country and the exchange is available there. For Ethiopia we have no such evidence for Bybit, so there is no button and no code. We have no checked evidence of ETB P2P on Bybit, so we make no claim about it. Do not use a false country, another currency route or someone else’s identity to get around a check or restriction.
What this page does not say
This page does not say that Bybit is legal in Ethiopia, and it does not say that Bybit is closed to Ethiopian users. We read three public documents on 24 October 2026: Bybit’s Service Restricted Countries article, Bybit’s fiat restriction list and the National Bank of Ethiopia notice of 27 February 2026. Ethiopia is absent from the first, named in three rows of the second, and the third prohibits Birr-denominated P2P without naming any platform. Each document can change. Check the linked originals and your own situation before you rely on this summary. We make no legal ruling.
