OKX’s Australian entities
OKX’s help page (published 21 February 2024, updated 15 October 2026) names three Australian entities. OKX Australia Pty Ltd provides digital currency exchange services. OKX Australia Financial Pty Ltd issues crypto derivatives and margin products and holds AFSL 379035. Bano Pty Ltd holds AFSL 536984 and is named for the OKX Pay Wallet and OKX Card.
We do not write that OKX is licensed by ASIC as an exchange. The AFSL belongs to the derivatives entity, not to the spot entity.
What Australian users can use
Spot orderbook trading and AUD deposit and withdrawal are available to all users, according to OKX. Margin and expiry futures and options are open to verified wholesale clients only, under the Corporations Act 2001; assessed retail clients can access only selected perpetual swaps and perpetual futures with up to 2x leverage, subject to OKX’s eligibility criteria. We do not explain how to qualify for either tier. OKX’s release of 14 May 2024 says AUD can be deposited and withdrawn via most Australian banks; we have not checked individual payment methods.
AUSTRAC registration
OKX’s own release says the spot entity is registered with AUSTRAC and the derivatives entity is also AUSTRAC registered. We have not found or checked the entry in AUSTRAC’s public register, so we cite OKX’s release and do not present it as a register check. We will update this page when we have checked the register.
OKX’s restricted list and Australia
The OKX risk and compliance disclosure (last updated 8 July 2026) lists restricted locations such as Afghanistan, Canada, Cuba, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Syria, Uzbekistan, parts of the United States and its territories, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Australia is not among them. The same disclosure adds that OKX may restrict services in other jurisdictions, naming Australia specifically for derivatives-related and CeFi-related services. This matches the tiered access above: a full country ban is different from a product-specific restriction. OKX may change this list.
How we handle the OKX button in Australia
We show no OKX button and no code on this page. We have not verified that our OKX link takes an Australian visitor to OKX Australia and that the referral is credited there, so we make no claim about it. Do not give a false country or someone else’s identity to get around a restriction or a check.
