Is OKX available in India? Restricted Locations and what happened in 2024 (October 2026)
Is OKX available in India? Short answer
OKX’s own Risk and Compliance Disclosure, last updated 8 July 2026, lists India among its Restricted Locations. We read it on 19 October 2026. We found no official OKX announcement about a return to India. We show no OKX button and no code on this page, because OKX does not accept sign-ups from a restricted location through our link.

What OKX’s own terms say
The disclosure says OKX may restrict or prohibit use of all or part of its services from Restricted Locations, “which at this time include Afghanistan, Canada, Cuba, Hong Kong, Iran, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Syria” and other places. The wording is about OKX’s own terms. We do not describe it as a ban or as a ruling by an Indian authority. For other countries see our OKX restricted countries page.
What was reported in 2024
The Block reported on 21 March 2024 that OKX told users in India it was no longer providing services there, with a deadline of 30 April 2024, and that funds would remain safe and available in the account until withdrawn. This is a news report of OKX’s message. We found no official OKX page for the event, so we cite the report only as an event with a date.
If you already had an OKX account in India
We publish only what the sources say: the 2024 report mentions withdrawing funds. We found no current OKX page that explains withdrawals for India, so check your account and OKX’s own help centre. Do not try to work around a restriction, for example with another region’s site or someone else’s identity documents.
Crypto tax in India: 30% and 1% TDS
The Income Tax Department guide to virtual digital assets states that income from a VDA is taxed at 30% under section 115BBH, with no deduction other than the cost of acquisition and no set-off of losses. A separate 1% TDS under section 194S applies to a payment for a VDA to a resident, with thresholds of Rs. 50,000 for certain individuals and HUFs and Rs. 10,000 for others. This is not tax advice; check the guide and ask a qualified adviser.
Other exchanges: what FIU-IND orders say
FIU-IND orders describe Binance, Bybit (Bybit Fintech Limited) and KuCoin (Peken Global Limited) as Reporting Entities under the PMLA. That is anti-money-laundering supervision. It is not an RBI licence and it does not protect your funds. We have not confirmed that each is open to new users in India, so this page shows no sign-up button. Availability can change, so read each exchange’s own terms and the official FIU-IND order yourself before you decide anything. We do not recommend any exchange for users in India. See how we check sources on How we verify.
