Is OKX allowed in France? OKX Europe and referral code
Short answer: the AMF’s own white list shows OKX’s European entity as a licensed crypto-asset service provider authorised to serve France under the free provision of services, and France is not on the OKX list of Restricted Locations (page updated 8 July 2026). The company behind it is OKX Europe Limited in Malta, supervised by the MFSA. The AMF list still shows it under its previous name, OKCoin Europe Limited. OKX pages were read on 21 October 2026; AMF, GLEIF and tax pages carry the check dates in the table below.
Is OKX allowed in France?
Three official sources point the same way. The AMF white list shows the entity as licensed, with a passport, authorised to provide crypto-asset services in France since 15 February 2025. OKX’s own regulatory page says the licence of OKX Europe Limited was granted on 27 January 2025. And France does not appear on the OKX list of Restricted Locations.
We rely on the regulator’s list for the French position and on OKX’s page for the company’s own description. A white list is not a guarantee of any outcome for a user, and the AMF notes that its lists may lag behind the registers they are based on.
Why people thought OKX was banned in France: the PSAN story
Before the EU regime, French crypto providers registered with the AMF as PSAN. OKX France Technology Company SAS held registration E2023-106. In a decision dated 28 July 2025 the AMF recorded that the company asked to be struck from that list. That is a removal at the company’s request, and we do not infer reasons that the decision does not state.
OKX announced on 1 July 2025 that its launch in France was made possible through an EU passport from its European headquarters in Malta. In other words the French entity and the Maltese entity are different legal persons, and the service is provided by the Maltese one.
Which company serves you
OKX Europe Limited is a Maltese company supervised by the MFSA. The AMF white list shows it under the previous name OKCoin Europe Limited; the GLEIF legal entity record for LEI 54930069NLWEIGLHXU42 gives OKX Europe Limited as the legal name and OKCOIN EUROPE LTD as the previous legal name.
Watch out for clones
The AMF lists the website okx-exchange.fr as an impersonation and states that this actor is not authorised by the AMF (entry dated 26 May 2025). It is not OKX. Check the address before you enter any password or document, and reach the exchange only from its official pages.
What the AMF white list does and does not tell you
The AMF white list is a regulator’s list of providers that may offer crypto-asset services in France. For OKX it shows the European entity, licensed under the EU crypto-assets regime, with a passport and the right to serve France under the free provision of services since 15 February 2025. It does not rate the service, it does not promise any result for a user, and it does not replace OKX’s own terms. The AMF also notes that its lists may lag behind the registers they are based on, which is why we read the OKX regulatory page and the GLEIF record next to it. We make no claim about any other French registration for OKX beyond the PSAN decision described above.
Reading OKX’s Restricted Locations list
OKX publishes a list of Restricted Locations and a separate list of locations where it may restrict services. We checked both on 21 October 2026 against the page updated on 8 July 2026, and France is on neither. A list like this can change without notice, so read the live page before you register. If France is ever added, this page will say so and the sign-up button will go. Do not try to work around a restriction.
Before you register: a short checklist
- Check the address in your browser. The official OKX European site is reached from OKX’s own pages, not from the clone okx-exchange.fr.
- Confirm that you are signing up with OKX Europe Limited, the Maltese entity supervised by the MFSA.
- Read the EEA referral programme terms, which say that both the person who refers and the person who joins must be under OKX Europe Ltd.
- Read the live SEPA deposit and withdrawal help pages, because limits and timing are set by OKX and your bank.
- Keep your own records for tax purposes; the French tax administration explains what to declare.
Euro deposits and withdrawals
OKX describes EUR deposits by SEPA bank transfer as offered to European customers who are residents of EEA countries. It states that it does not charge a fee for them and that they can take up to 2 business days. For withdrawals, OKX describes SEPA transfers that arrive instantly or within up to 2 business days, and says you must verify ownership of the receiving account when you make your first cash withdrawal. Your bank may charge its own fees, which OKX does not control. We did not run these flows from a French account.
Taxes in France
Tax treatment comes from French law, not from the exchange. The French tax administration states a flat tax of 31.4% on gains from digital assets, made of 12.8% income tax and 18.6% social contributions. This is not advice; the official page explains thresholds, forms and the declaration of accounts held abroad, and your own situation may differ.
Where OKX is not available
OKX publishes a list of Restricted Locations and a separate list of locations where it may restrict services. France is on neither as of 8 July 2026. If the list changes, this page changes with it. Do not try to work around a restriction in your country. For another authorised option in the EEA, see the Bybit page.
Referral code
The OKX EEA referral programme is run under OKX Europe Ltd, and its terms say that both the person who refers and the person who joins must be under OKX Europe Ltd. France is not on OKX’s list of Restricted Locations, so a resident of France signs up on OKX’s European site.
We may receive a commission from OKX if you register through the sign-up button on this page. It does not change our ranking or this page’s facts. When this page shows a sign-up button, it applies our code, shown in the panel at the top of this page. If you open the sign-up form from the button, check that our code is shown as applied before you continue. This page states no bonus amount and promises no reward or discount; whatever applies is set by OKX’s current terms. See the OKX overview for the current state of the offer.
If our code is not shown, stop and check that you are on OKX’s European site and under OKX Europe Ltd. Open the link again in a clean browser tab rather than creating a second account, and contact OKX support if the code still does not attach. Do not change your country or details in a form to match a different programme.
What we have not confirmed
We have not tested registration or verification with a French document, and we do not publish personal fees, limits or review times. We have not confirmed any bonus for France. Each such statement needs an official source with a check date, and we would rather leave a topic out than guess.
How we checked this page
Every statement in the table below is tied to a source URL and the date we checked it. If a source changes, the page date and the check date change together. For the method, see how we verify.

We make no ruling of our own. The AMF decision of 28 July 2025 records that the French entity, OKX France Technology Company SAS (E2023-106), itself asked to be struck from the PSAN list; the decision does not say more. The AMF white list now shows OKX's European entity under an EU passport.
Who is behind OKX in France?
OKX Europe Limited, a Maltese company supervised by the MFSA, serves French users. The AMF white list still shows it under its previous name, OKCoin Europe Limited.
Is okx-exchange.fr the official OKX site?
No. The AMF lists okx-exchange.fr as an impersonation and says the actor is not authorised by the AMF (entry dated 26 May 2025).
How do I withdraw euros from OKX?
OKX describes SEPA withdrawals that arrive instantly or within up to 2 business days, with a check of the receiving account on your first cash withdrawal. Read the live help page before you withdraw.
How are crypto gains taxed in France?
The French tax administration states a flat tax of 31.4% on gains from digital assets. This page is not tax advice; check impots.gouv.fr for your own case.
Does a referral code give a bonus?
This page makes no promise of a bonus for France. Any welcome offer is set by OKX on its own official pages.
