OKX’s Spanish site states in its footer that OKX Europe Limited, which operates under the trade name OKX, is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority as a crypto-asset service provider under the European crypto-asset regulation, as implemented in Malta by the Markets in Crypto-Assets Act, Chapter 647. We did not rely on that statement alone. We downloaded the ESMA interim register file on 21 October 2026 and found one OKX entry: OKX Europe Limited, home state Malta, authorisation date 27 January 2025, with Spain in the list of host states.

CNMV’s crypto-asset regulation page, which we read on 23 October 2026, states in Spanish that the transitional period in Spain ends on 1 July 2026 (“El periodo transitorio en España finalizará el 1 de julio de 2026”) and that from 1 July 2026 only providers authorised by the CNMV or other European authorities may operate in Spain (“Desde el 1 de julio de 2026 solo pueden operar en España proveedores autorizados por la CNMV u otras autoridades europeas”). This is consistent with the ESMA record for OKX Europe Limited and its Spain host-state entry.

This page does not give legal advice and does not rate the exchange. It records which entity, which regulator and which dates we could confirm.

Is Spain on OKX’s Restricted Locations list?

No. OKX publishes a Risk and Compliance Disclosure, last updated on 8 July 2026, that names the Restricted Locations: Afghanistan, Canada, Cuba, Hong Kong, Iran, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Syria, the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, certain jurisdictions in the United States and its territories, and Uzbekistan. The same page lists further jurisdictions where OKX may restrict some services, such as Australia, Bahamas, Brazil, Eritrea, Russia and South Korea. Spain is on neither list.

A country that is absent from the list is not a guarantee that every account will be accepted. OKX decides on each account under its own terms and verification.

How the referral code works for users in Spain

OKX’s EEA Region Referral Program terms, last updated on 9 September 2026, say the programme is tailored for users under OKX Europe Ltd and that both referrers and referees have to be under OKX Europe Ltd to be eligible. For a user in Spain this means the account has to be opened with the European entity described above.

We have not verified a referral code for Spain. The EEA terms establish who can participate, but they do not establish that a particular code is valid for every Spanish user. This page therefore shows no sign-up button and makes no claim about a Spain-specific code.

Depositing euros by SEPA

OKX states that EUR local bank transfers are currently offered to its European customers, meaning residents of EEA countries, and that both SEPA Standard and SEPA Instant are accepted. It says it does not charge a fee for EUR deposits by SEPA bank transfer, and that additional transfer fees may be charged by your bank. A deposit may take up to 2 business days to be reflected in the account. The article was updated on 5 August 2026 and we read it on 21 October 2026.

We did not run a deposit from a Spanish bank account, so limits, timing and your bank’s charges for your own account are unconfirmed.

What we have not confirmed

  • Trading fees for OKX Europe: OKX publishes different spot schedules depending on account type and our readings have not been reconciled, so we publish no fee figures here.
  • Spanish tax treatment, which comes from Spanish law and not from the exchange.
  • The registration flow from a Spanish IP address and the documents OKX accepts from Spanish residents.

Each of these needs an official source with a check date before it appears here. We would rather leave a topic out than guess.

If OKX is not available to you

Availability depends on where you live and on OKX’s current terms, which can change. If your registration is declined, do not try to work around the decision. See the OKX page for the current state of the exchange on our site.
