Is Binance available in Spain? MiCA status, alternatives

Published · updated

Short answer

Spain’s transition period under the EU crypto-asset rules ended on 1 July 2026: since then, the CNMV says, only crypto providers authorised by the CNMV or another European authority may operate in Spain. By our check of ESMA’s register on 21 October 2026, Binance has no EU authorisation. On 24 June 2026 Binance said it had withdrawn its application with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) in Greece. So we show no Binance sign-up button for Spain. Authorised alternatives are below. Checked 21 October 2026.

What changed in Spain on 1 July 2026

The CNMV states that “the transitional period in Spain will end on 1 July 2026” and that from 1 July 2026 only providers authorised by the CNMV or other European authorities can operate in Spain. The CNMV page tells users to check a provider in ESMA’s registers and in the CNMV’s own register of crypto-asset service providers. We follow that route: we read ESMA’s interim register of crypto-asset service providers and report what it shows, with the date.

Binance and EU authorisation

By our check, a search for “binance” in all fields of the ESMA register returned no match, and the CASPS file read on 21 October 2026 holds no row with that name. Binance has no confirmed MiCA authorisation in the canonical registry (status EU_RESTRICTED).

On 24 June 2026 Binance published that it had decided to withdraw its licence application with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC), and that it was in the process of contacting all of its EU users. Binance’s licences page, read on 21 October 2026, lists regulatory entries for its ADGM entities and none for Spain. We did not find an official Binance page describing service changes for users in Spain, so we do not describe any. We do not repeat closure dates that only appear in press articles.

Is Spain on Binance’s restricted list?

No. Binance’s List of Prohibited Countries, updated 5 January 2026, names the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and a set of sanctioned places. Spain is not among them. “Not on the list” does not mean “available”: the list is only one of the facts that decide whether we show a sign-up link, and the EU authorisation status above is the other.

Why there is no sign-up button here

We show a sign-up link only where our evidence covers the country and the exchange is authorised there. For Spain the EU authorisation condition is not met for Binance, so this page has no button, no referral code and no bonus. Our neutral page on Binance referral codes explains how we treat codes in general. We do not suggest ways around a provider’s country rules.

Authorised alternatives in Spain

The ESMA interim register has rows for Bybit EU GmbH (FMA, Austria, authorised 28 May 2025, Spain among its host states) and OKX Europe Limited (MFSA, Malta, 27 January 2025). See our pages on Bybit and OKX. This is a register fact, not a recommendation, and a register entry says nothing about fees, products or fit for you.
