Is Bybit available in South Africa? Restricted list and fees

Published · updated

Is Bybit available in South Africa? Short answer

Checked on 20 October 2026. South Africa is not on Bybit’s own list of restricted countries, last updated on 16 October 2026. Bybit discloses that its South African entity is a juristic representative of another company, Altify SA Capital, FSP No. 52727. We could not confirm that entry in the FSCA register, so we show no Bybit button in South Africa and no code.

Our Bybit button in South AfricaNoneOur editorial rule

“Not on a restricted list” is not the same as “approved in South Africa”. The first is Bybit’s statement about its own service. The second would be a statement by the South African regulator, and we did not confirm one.

What Bybit’s own lists say

The Service Restricted Countries page names the United States, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Uzbekistan, parts of Ukraine, Sudan and Syria, and, “in the case of Bybit Virtual Asset Platform Operator LLC only”, Dubai: Dubai is an excluded jurisdiction for that one Bybit entity. South Africa is not in that list.

A second Bybit page covers fiat (dated 3 October 2026). South Africa is named in two of its lists, SWIFT (PLN currency) and the Zen.com provider list of restricted KYC countries, but not in the General Fiat Service list, which covers fiat deposit, fiat withdrawal and One-Click Buy.

Bybit’s regulatory status in South Africa

Bybit’s help page on buying crypto with ZAR ends with a disclosure: Bybit Fintech South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Reg. No. 2023/225195/07) is a juristic representative of Altify SA Capital (Pty) Ltd (Reg. No. 2022/321703/07), an authorised financial services provider, FSP No. 52727. A Bybit press release of 28 April 2026 about Bybit Pay names a different Bybit company, Bybit Fintech FZE, as the juristic representative of the same provider. We do not say which Bybit company serves which South African user.

As of 20 October 2026 we could not confirm FSP No. 52727’s authorisation categories or Bybit’s juristic-representative entry in the FSCA register, because the register was not available to us. We therefore do not describe Bybit as licensed or regulated in South Africa.

Buying crypto with ZAR and selling it

Bybit’s help page has you open One-Click Buy, select ZAR and Instant EFT, then pay through Ozow by choosing your bank and granting Ozow access to your account. The bank account must be under the same name as your Bybit account, and an order is typically processed within 10 minutes.

The One-Click Buy FAQ lists the fees. Buying crypto with ZAR via Instant EFT costs 1.5% with a minimum of 1 ZAR. Selling crypto for ZAR costs 2.2% plus a fixed 135 ZAR. Bybit’s sell guides say ZAR is limited to ZA individual verified accounts and include a ZAR bank-transfer section. We did not check P2P. These fees are from the page dated 28 September 2026.

Bybit Card and Bybit Pay in South Africa

South Africa is in the Visa/Mastercard row of Bybit’s list of countries for bank-card payments (26 June 2026), not in the Apple Pay row.

For the Bybit Card, Bybit’s card-availability wiki article of 5 August 2026 does not list South Africa and says countries not listed are not currently supported for card issuance. The article is marked as AI-generated, so check Bybit’s card page. Bybit’s press release of 28 April 2026 says Bybit Pay works in South Africa through MoneyBadger, which converts crypto to rand at the point of sale, with more than 650,000 locations via Scan to Pay.

Why there is no promo code here

We show a sign-up button only where a regulator record supports it. For South Africa we found Bybit’s own pages but could not confirm an FSCA record, because the register was unavailable to us on 20 October 2026, so the page has no button, no code and no sign-up link. If the FSCA register is checked and confirms the entries, a separate review decides whether a button is added.

How we checked, and how you can check

We read each Bybit page on 20 October 2026 and copied the update stamp it shows. You can repeat the check in a few minutes:

  1. Open Bybit’s Service Restricted Countries page and look for South Africa. Note the update stamp.
  2. Open the ZAR Instant EFT help page and read the disclosure at the bottom.
  3. Open the FSCA financial service provider search and look for FSP No. 52727.
  4. If a page changed since the dates above, trust the new text.

What we did not check

We did not open a Bybit account from South Africa or test sign-up, deposits or withdrawals. Cryptocurrency can lose value quickly, and you can lose money. This is not legal, tax or investment advice. If you are unsure, ask a qualified adviser in South Africa.
