No sign-up button for India: we show one only where we have verified the Bitget referral offer for that country.
Is Bitget legal in India? Short answer
Bitget’s own FAQ says new user onboarding for users whose country or region is India stopped on Friday, 6 February 2026, at 4:00 PM (GMT+5:30). We read it on 31 October 2026 and found no Bitget announcement lifting the pause. We show no Bitget button and no code on this page, because new registrations with India as country of residence are closed.

What Bitget changed for India on 6 February 2026
Bitget’s FAQ says the change applies only to new users who try to register with India as their country or region of residence, or with Indian KYC documents, after the effective date. It says the pause covers all entry points for new registration: the app, the website and any alternative registration channels. Bitget describes it as “a proactive, procedural step to align with India’s evolving AML and reporting framework under the FIU”. Its blog notice of 4 February 2026 says the same for account creation.
Bitget and FIU-IND: what we could and could not verify
On the FIU-IND compliance orders page we found orders in the matters of Binance, Bybit and KuCoin (Peken Global Limited), and none for Bitget. The page lists no public register of registered providers. That is what we found on 31 October 2026. Our own dataset records an FIU-IND registration for Bitget (research of 13 July 2026), which we could not confirm from FIU-IND’s public pages. Treat the status as not independently verified here.
If you already have a Bitget account in India
Bitget’s FAQ says existing Indian users can continue to use Bitget as usual, and that deposits, trading and withdrawals remain available under the current policy. Policies can change, so read the FAQ itself. Do not try to work around the pause, for example with another country in the form, a VPN or someone else’s identity documents.
Crypto tax in India for Bitget users: 30% and 1% TDS
The Income Tax Department guide to virtual digital assets states that income from a VDA is taxed at a flat 30% plus applicable surcharge and cess under section 115BBH, with no deduction other than the cost of acquisition and no set-off of losses. A separate 1% TDS under section 194S applies to a payment for a VDA to a resident, with thresholds of Rs. 50,000 for certain individuals and HUFs and Rs. 10,000 for others. This is not tax advice; check the guide and ask a qualified adviser.
Alternatives for new users in India
FIU-IND orders describe Binance, Bybit (Bybit Fintech Limited) and KuCoin (Peken Global Limited) as Reporting Entities under the PMLA. That is anti-money-laundering supervision. It is not an RBI licence and it does not protect your funds. We have not confirmed that each is open to new users in India, so this page shows no sign-up button. Our guides on the Binance referral link and Bybit referral link show what we confirm about each. We do not link KuCoin here because we have not confirmed that it is open to new users in India.
