OKX in Kazakhstan: AFSA warning and register check (2026)

Published · updated

Is OKX available in Kazakhstan? Short answer

AFSA’s warning on unlicensed digital asset platforms says it relates, in particular, to platforms publicly known as OKX, HTX, Bitget and MEXC. Our availability record dates the warning 29 April 2026 (the page itself shows no date); we re-read it on 20 October 2026. We did not find OKX on the AFSA digital asset register (checked 20 October 2026). OKX’s own list of Restricted Locations, updated 8 July 2026, does not name Kazakhstan. We show no OKX button and no code here.

What OKX’s restricted list says

The OKX Risk and Compliance Disclosure, last updated 8 July 2026, lists Restricted Locations “which at this time include Afghanistan, Canada, Cuba, Hong Kong, Iran, India, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, North Korea, Syria” and other places. Kazakhstan is not named. OKX also says it may restrict services in other jurisdictions, so the absence of a country is not a statement that OKX is available there. For other countries see our OKX restricted countries page.

AFSA’s warning on unlicensed platforms

AFSA cites Article 11(5) of the Law “On Digital Assets in the Republic of Kazakhstan”: the organisation of circulation of digital assets in Kazakhstan is prohibited without a licence or authorisation issued under AIFC law or the legislation of Kazakhstan. AFSA warns of the risks of using unlicensed platforms that advertise to citizens of Kazakhstan, and says its warning relates, in particular, to platforms publicly known as OKX, HTX, Bitget and MEXC. AFSA also says it does not maintain a list of prohibited platforms and recommends checking any entity in the AFSA Public Register. We quote the warning and do not say that OKX is “banned”: our availability record dates it 29 April 2026.

Who is licensed by AFSA

On 20 October 2026 the AFSA digital asset register lists two exchange operators that we cover as active: Bybit Limited, AFSA-A-LA-2024-0027, and BN KZ Technologies Limited (Binance Kazakhstan), AFSA-A-LA-2024-0028. Both are dated 25 September 2024. We did not find OKX or an OKX entity on page 1 or page 2 of the register.

Why we show no OKX button in Kazakhstan

AFSA’s warning is about platforms that advertise to citizens of Kazakhstan, and we do not want to advertise one. So this page carries no OKX sign-up link, no code and no bonus amount for Kazakhstan. Do not give a false country or use someone else’s identity to get around a check.

What we could not verify

  • The publication date shown on the AFSA warning page itself (it shows none; 29 April 2026 comes from our availability record).
  • OKX’s status under Kazakhstan’s national (non-AIFC) rules — AFSA says national authorities decide; we did not find an official national source.
  • Whether OKX accepts sign-ups from Kazakhstan today, beyond its published list.

Where to look next

Check the OKX page for what we confirm about the exchange, and read How we verify for how we check facts. Licensed alternatives in Kazakhstan are covered by our Bybit and Binance Kazakhstan guides when they are published.

FAQ

Is OKX legal in Kazakhstan?

We do not give legal advice and we do not say OKX is banned. AFSA's warning on unlicensed digital asset platforms says it relates, in particular, to platforms publicly known as OKX, HTX, Bitget and MEXC. Our availability record dates the warning 29 April 2026, and we re-read it on 20 October 2026. AFSA also says the status of a platform within Kazakhstan is determined by national authorities.

Is Kazakhstan on OKX's restricted list?

No. The OKX Risk and Compliance Disclosure, last updated 8 July 2026, does not name Kazakhstan among its Restricted Locations. The list is not exhaustive, since OKX says it may restrict services in other jurisdictions, so this is not a statement that OKX is available to you.

Does OKX have an AFSA licence?

We did not find OKX on the AFSA digital asset service provider register. We checked both pages of the register on 20 October 2026. The register can change, so check it yourself.

Which crypto exchanges are licensed by AFSA?

The AFSA register lists Bybit Limited (AFSA-A-LA-2024-0027) and BN KZ Technologies Limited (AFSA-A-LA-2024-0028, Binance Kazakhstan) as active, both dated 25 September 2024.

Can I use an OKX referral code in Kazakhstan?

We show no OKX button and no code on this page, and we promise no bonus for Kazakhstan.
