KuCoin’s AUSTRAC registration

KuCoin says its “subsidiary entity” is registered with AUSTRAC as a digital currency exchange and that it now offers local fiat on-ramp support. The post does not name the subsidiary or give a registration number, and we have not yet checked the AUSTRAC register. Treat this as KuCoin’s statement.

Who operates the platform

KuCoin publishes separate AU Terms and Conditions for Australian users. We have not yet read them, so we do not name the operator here.

Who issues derivatives: Echuca Trading

KuCoin’s Australian legal-documents page says Echuca Trading Pty Ltd (AFSL No. 297499) issues the derivative products listed there. The licence belongs to Echuca Trading, not to the platform operator, and we have not yet checked the ASIC register for it.

KuCoin’s restricted list and Australia

KuCoin’s global Terms of Use list restricted locations. In the version updated on 29 September 2026, Australia is not on that list. That is not a licence or a legal ruling, and the separate KuCoin AU Terms may set their own rules.

Can you open an account?

Eligibility for Australian users is set by the KuCoin AU Terms and Conditions. We have not yet read their eligibility rules, so we do not say whether you can open an account. KuCoin can change its terms at any time.

How we handle the KuCoin button in Australia

We have not verified that our KuCoin partner code works for KuCoin Australia, so we show no button and no code here. See our KuCoin page and How we verify.

What KuCoin states and what we verified

We separate three things. First, what KuCoin says about itself: that a subsidiary is registered with AUSTRAC as a digital currency exchange, and that Echuca Trading Pty Ltd holds AFSL No. 297499 for derivatives. Second, what we read ourselves: KuCoin’s own blog post, its Australian legal-documents page and the restricted-locations list in its global Terms of Use. Third, what we have not checked: the AUSTRAC register entry, the ASIC register entry for the licence, and the KuCoin AU Terms and Conditions.

A registration with AUSTRAC is an anti-money-laundering registration for digital currency exchange providers. It is not an endorsement, and it does not tell you whether a product is suitable or safe for you. An Australian financial services licence covers the specific financial products its holder is authorised to issue. Check both registers yourself before you rely on either claim.

How to check before you deposit

  1. Open the KuCoin AU legal-documents page and read the KuCoin AU Terms and Conditions, including who may open an account.
  2. Look up the entity named there on the AUSTRAC register of digital currency exchange providers.
  3. Look up Echuca Trading Pty Ltd on the ASIC Professional Register and confirm AFSL No. 297499.
  4. Start with a small deposit and test a withdrawal before you move more.
